I've been such a rubbish blogger recently, however I have several ideas for blog posts covering a variety of topics and I'm determined to actually get something done! Reading other people's blogs has inspired me to try a lot of new stuff when it comes to make up, which let's be honest is going to be disastrous for my bank balance, but at least my face should look okay (ha ha ha ha ha)
So, I was on the prowl for new facey stuff that actually matched my face, as it became clear that, being a lot paler than I was in summer, everything seemed too orange. Okay when blended in, yes, but on the whole I felt some new make up was needed. I stepped into Superdrug, with the intention of only repurchasing the famous Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in a shade that might actually match my normal skin, when I became a little distracted by the rows of foundations on offer. Two foundation covered hands and an annoying experience with the salesperson later, and I came out with the Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin foundation (phew) which I hadn't actually heard much about.

| my little haul eyyy |
First first impressions: nice sturdy glass bottle (oh I do love a good glass bottle) with a pump which is always great. Writing and presentation etc isn't amazing, however it does promise great things so #YOLO #swag
This foundation claims many things, one of which is that it can improve the skin's quality, which sounds a little too good to be true. Obviously as I just got it today I can't comment on that claim, but it does have such a nice feel on the skin. One pump covers my face perfectly, and it blends well. For once, the colour seems to be about right for me, which I'm stupidly delighted with. I got the shade 050 Light Beige; generally I would opt for Ivory however for this foundation the shade Ivory was actually darker than this colour which was not what I was expecting. And ladies and gentlemen, that is why you should test the different colours before buying.
The coverage is pretty good with this foundation, and I didn't feel the need to apply concealer or powder - a first for me! The finish is semi-matte, so powder doesn't seem to be so necessary, even for my oily skin. It claims to suit all skin types: recently my skin has been horribly combination, with dry patches as well as the dreaded oil and break outs *yay*, so this was an important factor for me. With a name like SuperStay, you would expect it to last for ages, I haven't had the chance to try it out (first impressions post, remember) but in the 3 hours I've had it on, it still seems pretty much perfect :D
I generally try not to wear foundation too much, however this foundation could ruin my self control. I'm expecting great things from this little beauty.
UPDATE:
It soon became clear that with my oily skin, on its own this foundation doesn't last long enough - but with primer and powder it is obviously a lot more "SuperStay". Still pleased with the coverage and colour - in the picture below I'm wearing this foundation and no other base, and considering I have pretty bad skin, I'm impressed!
