THE BOOK
The Fault In Our Stars - undoubtedly one of the best books I have ever read, and one I can never do justice to when it comes to review writing. I first picked it up way over a year ago in February 2013, because I'd heard some people talk about it online and I was curious about what the big deal was. I read it, cried, cried some more, loved it, and then passed my copy onto my mum, two friends and a friend's mum, all of which ended up loving it too. SUCCESS. If you haven't read it, I urge you give into the hype and find a copy now. John Green makes this an absolute dream to read (despite the
Because I loved the book so much, the idea of a film terrified me, although the trailer (which you can see here) convinced me it would definitely be worth seeing. So, me and six of my best friends booked tickets to the UK advanced screening of Thursday 12th June, and this is the story:
Just a heads up - I've lost the charger for my digital camera (i'm great) and have no decent professional photo type camera so APOLOGIES FOR THE IPHONE PICTURES. Most of these were taken five minutes before i set off for school. I tried.

THE OUTFIT
Not the most exciting outfit in the world, I had planned nicer BUT THEN THE SUN CAME OUT AND I NEEDED TO FIND AN ACCEPTABLE OUTFIT FOR SCHOOL. Obviously I had to wear my tshirt which I got from a store I found on instagram, I 100% wouldn't recommend them as I got horrible customer service, with my items arriving ridiculously late, and there's definitely better places and tops out there. However, I'm still very glad I got this, and I loved having people fangirl because of it. My favourite moment was in school when I passed these girls a few years younger than me and I heard them go "Did you see her t-shirt????" Life made.
Anyway, my skirt is from Topshop last year which I still love a lot, my necklace is Primark (I couldn't find the necklace I actually wanted to wear so have a necklace I wore in my last and only OOTD) my shoes are Vans and my socks are from Dorothy Perkins aka the only shop my town has. I also wore my black H&M leather jacket for when it got a bit cooler, which isn't pictured.
THE FACE
For makeup, I had to wear this all day for school so this is probably not how I looked walking into the cinema haha.
I started with primer in an attempt to make my makeup stick around which is quite some feat with my oilyish skin, Max Factor's Facefinity All Day Primer is the only one that actually does that for me, but I did use some of Benefit's Porefessional around the nose to blur my horrendous pores. I then applied a liberal amount of Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the lightest shade on any blemishes (ie a lot) with a bit for the under eyes and randomly on my nose because I can. Blended in with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, I feel this is all the coverage I need, mainly because I hate covering up those areas of skin which aren't throwing a tantrum. Next, I shove on some Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze just to look like I've made some effort. I define my eyebrows with my trusty Collection Eyebrow Definer in Blonde, and my eyes in Rimmel's Exaggerate Waterproof (yay) Eye Definer in Black just to make it look like I have some facial features (blonde hair you suck). I think I then went in with some Natural Collection Bronzing Pearls (in Sahara Sun) which I've had forever as I felt super pale, then using the same Real Techniques Multitask Brush some of my favourite Max Factor blusher in 225 Mulberry. It's so natural I feel you really can't go wrong. I then set my makeup in place with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Translucent and a Real Techniques Powder Brush. Finally, my favourite parts, mascara and lips. I used Benefit's They're Real mascara, which is sadly on its last leg, so I had to go in with some Maybelline The Falsies to get my desired effect. For lips I used Topshop's Brighton Rock lipstick, but I dappped at it with some tissues after applying so it wasn't too harsh. And that's pretty much it!

THE EXPERIENCE
After an exciting day of school made bearable by other fans of TFIOS, it was time for the adventure to begin!!!!! Except my adventure ended up starting as a meeting in the library so I can be a volunteer over the summer. lol. The person who was interviewing me was lovely, but I could see the clock, and could see that the short 10 minute interview was quickly turning into 35minutes, which was pretty stressful knowing my friends were waiting outside for me and yeah. Eventually I was out and on the open road in my friend Laura's car. We reached the smallish city where the advanced screening was, and after some fabulous searching for a parking space in rush hour, we parked up and headed to Nandos to meet the rest of our pals. I had my usual medium butterfly chicken with chips and salad which was pretty tasty. We then headed to the cinema where we got GIANT POSTERS AND LANYARD THING (i'm never sure if that's the right word). The film started with John Green the man himself appearing on screen which made us all jump, and ended with a special Q&A with the cast and crew and the deleted scene featuring JG. Advanced screenings rule.
THE FILM
I should have known that with so much input from John Green, The Fault in Our Stars movie was never going to be a disaster. It was actually really really really great. Any film that gives me goosebumps, makes me laugh out loud and makes me cry get the thumbs up from me. Apparently people could hear me crying which is super embarrassing but there you go. It was so nice having all read the book and loved it individually to enjoy it together with my friends, and we'll definitely be going again. I'm a slight cheap skate when it comes to cinema so that must prove something. If you have any worries, I assure you that apart from some minor niggles the film was very very true to the book, and probably the closest book to film adaptation I have ever seen. It was genuinely funny and I maybe fell in love with the characters even more. But even if you haven't read the book, I know someone who went and hadn't read it, and she loved the film. I definitely think it's worth seeing, and I'll definitely be there when it comes out properly in the UK on the 19th June. Will you?
